THE BLACK WIDOW BAND |
The Black Widow Band is a hard-hitting, powerful R&B revue that has rocked the NYC metro area with their critically acclaimed brand of Blues, Soul, and Funk for nearly 20 years.
Formed and led by Larry Lacasta, the BWB has also shared stages with top acts such as BB King and the Average White Band, and has backed such greats as Lowell Fulson and Otis Rush.
|
 |
Larry Lacasta is the Captain of the BWB ship.
Although his specialty is tenor sax (Larry has spent years on the road with Jimmy McGriff and R&B legend Joe Tex), he also plays baritone sax, sings, and brings any house down with his brand of crowd control. |
 |
Ray Ellis handles the vocal chores in the BWB.
In a world full of singers that cover R&B and Blues,
Ray Ellis is the REAL DEAL! |
 |
Johnny Robertson plays trumpet and sings the smooth stuff,
in that Marvin Gaye/Eddie Kendricks mold.
JR is also perfect as a soul stirring vocal partner with Ray Ellis |
 |
Bill Levinson plays keys with a vengeance.
From smokin' B3 organ to articulate piano to a very funky clavinet, Bill helps to keep that BWB groove. |
 |
Jimmy Odum is the pulse of the BWB.
Equally adept at James Jamerson, Jaco, or "Thunder Thumb" styles of bass playing,
Mr. Odum also makes some of the best onstage facial expressions ever seen. |
 |
As the BWB's drummer, Ernie Youngblood's job is to drive the band, which he does with power and authority.
Ernie also handles background vocals. |
 |
Skip Spady plays guitar, blending jazz with the blues and shooting it all thru a rock cannon. |
